A vascular Doppler ultrasound is used to examine the circulation of your veins and arteries, specifically in your neck, abdomen, arms, and legs.

The test bounces high-frequency sound waves off red blood cells to estimate blood flow.

A Doppler ultrasound study can be used to diagnose:

  • Blood Clots
  • Arteriosclerosis
  • Heart Valve Defects
  • Congenital Heart Disease
  • Venous Insufficiency
  • Blocked, Narrowed, or Bulged Artery
  • Decreased Blood Circulation

The test is non-invasive and will be completed in about an hour. A gel will be applied to the areas being examined. We will then move a small hand-held wand over the skin. There is very little discomforted associated with a Doppler ultrasound.
